There’s no shortage of cooperages lining up to sell you barrels so why would you partner with us?

We founded Barrel Co to create a cooperage model built for New Zealand — one that combines the heritage of French oak craftsmanship with innovation, sustainability, and genuine partnership.

Our aim is to be as transparent as possible in the way we do business.  We want to be judged by the quality of our barrels, our fair pricing and level of service.  Our pricing reflects our longer-term aspirations around manufacturing French oak wine barrels in New Zealand to reduce costs by significantly reducing freight costs and removing sales agent costs.

Putting cost aside we believe that significant gains can be made for winemakers through reducing order lead times allowing orders to better match quality harvest information, improving sustainability through reduced CO2 emissions as well as reducing supply chain risk.

Fair Pricing

By manufacturing here in New Zealand, we strip out a big chunk of international freight cost and avoid paying commissions to local sales agents, so more of your spend goes into the barrel rather than the cost of Euro denominated overheads.

Reducing Risk

You can confirm orders later, when you have a clearer read on your harvest, while also shrinking your carbon footprint and avoiding the joys of container roulette and shipping delays.
